Sunday we celebrated 1 year in our new church location!
It was so great to look back over the year and see how God has blessed above and beyond our expectations! When we were considering moving to this location it seemed impossible- the rent was 6 times what we were already paying. Yet the pastoral team felt convinced that God was leading in that direction and he has provided to open the doors toward getting the location and to providing the necessary finances. But not just that! We have been able to see new people come to know the Lord in this new location nearly every Sunday since we have been there. Activities have been expanded and we are able to serve the church boday better now too!
God is good and we are so thankful for where He has brought us so far and we look forward to where He will take us next!
Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday. I love dedicating a whole to day to just being thankful. This year we spread out the tradition…at the beginning of the month we drew a tree on a large piece of paper and hung it up in our living room. Then every day at meal time we would all write or draw something we were thankful for that day. We did it every day until Thanksgiving. It was a great way to remember all that we have to be thankful for.
Then this year we were also blessed to be able to celebrate with some of our dearest friends. We are so blessed and so much to thank the Lord for. Truly so much. God is so good!
The pastoral team has been focusing on prayer this month. God has impressed upon the heart of every leader in the church the need to be a church of prayer. It has been a great time of seeking the Lord through prayer, on teaching the church the importance of prayer through God’s word, and watching the church leaders humble themselves in prayer and fasting in order to seek the Lord. God moves when his people pray!
Matthew 18:19-21 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.â€
SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR!!!!!!!!!
That was the theme of the day and it was so fun to celebrate the last 10 years of this fabulous ministry. The focus was on the importance of worship and giving thanks at all times in all circumstances; on learning to go against our negative, pessimistic culture and instead to find joy in the Lord. GENS got its start in 2000, and i6:8 has been a part of this ministry since 2004. It was a great group of people this year. There were 2 sermons, worship, lots of games, time in a “pub”, group time, videos, greetings from the past, plenty of silliness and a worship session to conclude the day. SO many people have been touched through this ministry, churches unified, other ministries have been born out of it, and people sent out from it. God is so good and we are so thankful to be a part of what He is doing.
The bottom line was: If you are living in a difficult period and don’t know what to be thankful for…start with the Cross.
