New Beginnings

We are working to get our website updated. We hope to introduce a new face to our site in order to kick off the new beginning to this new year. We are working with our dearest friend Vito to tweek the set up a bit in order to make the latest news easier to arrive at! Keep your eyes peeled for the changes…they are coming soon!

2_384_mawrpj3enq.jpgWe are working hard to start the year fresh and to get back into the swing of things. Although this year we are looking forward to starting afresh in so many aspects of our ministry. It is a time of renewal, change and positive growth for the church, Mission i6:8, the couples ministry, the center we used to work at and us personally. Keep plugged into the site for news on how this is all unfolding in the next few weeks and months.

On the personal side of things…We are also working hard to get healthy. It has been a rough reentry for us physically. Carli had bronchitis, a cold, a trachea infection and then the bronchitis cough returned with a sinus infection. Gianluca just won over a bout of stomach flu and fever and the kids have been battling coughs, fevers, and colds as well. We are looking forward to getting healthy so we can get back to a normal pace of things!

In Christ all things are new. As it says in 2 Co 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” and in Isaiah 43: 18-19, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” God has new things in store for this year…and in Him all things are new. We hold on to this promise for us personally and for our ministry. And so can you! In Christ you can start this year with a new beginning.

1 Corinthians 15: 58 “Therefore, my dear brothers stand firm. let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” God gave this verse to Gianluca and I both at separate moments and has confirmed it in our hearts for this year of our ministry. We are convinced that every effort we have made for His kingdom up until this point was not in vain, and neither will every effort we continue to make be in vain. We will not let anything move us. Whether that be the trials of these past years, the sickness of this winter, the deficit in our financial support (we are still only at 1/3 of our needed budget), our the seemingly insurmountable task that lies before us. We will stand firm in Christ. Because in him all things are new and our efforts for Him are never in vain.

So. a new year….. new efforts! ….But never in vain.

“Hi”s and Goodbyes

2_381_1klwti7b5k.jpgWe are thrilled to welcome home Gianluca’s younger brother, Mirko, from his year stay at Hillsong Universty in Australia. Mirko is the youth pastor of the Modugno church, a leader and founder of Generazione Scelta (of which Mission i6:8 is part), and an integral part of the leadership team at the local church in Modugno.
Welcome home Mirko!

We are equally thrilled to say goodbye to two very special people! Two Mission i6:8 members, Luigi Altamura and Regina left yesterday for Albania. This is Luigi’s fourth trip to Albania. He first went to Albania on a short term trip led by Gianluca in 2004. He then returned for a 3 month stay by himself (our first Mission i6:8 member to head off for a longer term missions trip!) to work with the local church in Albania. This last Aug/Sep (07) he returned as the lone male on a team of 13 girls! Feeling that God had called him to return once more as a missionary to help the local church he decided to leave this January for 6 months. We are so proud of you Luigi! Make sure you keep Luigi in your prayers over the next 6 months! He will be working closely with the local church and it will be his first time away from home for such an extended period.

2_359_t89nf7ipp9.jpgRegina, who is also Luigi’s cousin, took her first missions trip with Mission i6:8 the fall to Albania. God did tremendous things during her life while she was there those two weeks and after much prayer she decided to join Luigi for the first month of his stay in Albania. She will be there to help minister for the month of January. We are so thrilled to see how God is challenging the young people here to step up and be his missionaries around the world! Please pray for Regina. For her family to have peace, for strength to be away from home for a month, for God to use her in specific and mighty ways, and for God to continue to speak to her about her future. We are proud of you Regina. God is so good!

Gianluca is 30- Suprise Party!!

Happy 30th Birthday to my amazingly wonderful husband! You are our superhero! We are so proud of you and everything that you do for us and for the Kingdom.

I am so glad I got to completely suprise Gianluca with a huge party to celebrate this important occasion. It was great to have so many friends there! Thank you to everyone who came, who participated in making a page for his album, who brought gifts, and who made the evening so special. We had fun embarassing Gianluca, eating, watching a video slide show, watching fireworks and just celebrating the great person that Gianluca is! Happy birthday honey!
